It’s a little bit surprising how our lifestyle impacts our health. Every action we take has inevitable consequences on our health, whether good or bad. So also will the decisions we make concerning our health. Often we do things that are disastrous to our health, without even knowing it, some of which we feel are unrelated to our health. This post contains some of those health mistakes we make every day and possible ways to avoid them. Read on to find out more!

  1. Skipping breakfast

There is a reason why doctors say breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Starting your day without it is like driving a car with an almost-empty tank. It certainly will not help you function as well as you originally do.

Skipping breakfast increases your chance of getting diabetes. The funny thing is it won’t help your weight loss. You keep adding a few pounds when you do that. So plan your breakfast ahead of the morning, especially if you know there is a possibility of running late.

  2. Not exercising at all or doing it too much

Contrary to what you think, the more time you spend exercising, the better exercising too much or not giving yourself a break from it will wear you out fast rather than toning your muscles and keeping you fit. It should be done in moderation. Also, if you are not exercising, it is terrible for your health. A jog down the lane or around the park 3-4 times a week is enough to keep you in shape. You can also try walking, swimming or biking.

  3. Not getting enough sleep

No matter how busy you are, it would help to create time to rest. We are all guilty of cramming everything to fit into the 24 hours of a day while sacrificing our sleep time, which is very wrong. Nights are meant for sleep while the day is intended for work. So even if you are running a night shift, you should take the day off to rest.

  4. Not eating healthily

An apple a day keeps the doctors away. In other words, eating healthily keep your health in good condition. Cut back on junk and fast food. Eat more fruits and home-cooked meals. Also, swap the soda for fresh fruit juice or water. Your diet should be rich and balanced with the right servings.

  5. Living a sedentary lifestyle

Nothing kills your health faster than sitting all day, asides from an unhealthy diet. It cuts off blood flow to some parts of the body, increasing your risk of cardiovascular diseases. Even if you have a desk job, you should walk around the office for a few minutes at intervals. 9-5 is a long time to sit for.

  6. Drinking water from a warm tap

Another health mistake we make every day is drinking from a warm tap. That could lead to lead poisoning, especially among kids. Although the probability is low, it is better to be safe than sorry. Instead, you should drink or cook from a cold tap.

There is no better time to stop making health mistakes than now. Now is the right time to change some of your habits to avoid health mistakes.
